Our research group studies how the brain processes and combines information coming from the senses, and how these mechanisms develop and adapt throughout the lifespan in response to individual experiences. Volunteers play a fundamental role in advancing research. Would you like to take part? Discover the studies we are currently running.
We are currently recruiting young participants for the following studies:

Why is this important?
The data collected from adults with typical sensory development will be compared with those from people who have received a cochlear implant. This comparison will help us understand how different auditory experiences shape multisensory integration mechanisms in the brain.
Description:
Our brain continuously receives information from different senses. To correctly interpret what is happening around us, it has to determine when visual and auditory signals come from the same source and should therefore be combined, and when they have different origins and need to be processed separately. In this study, we investigate how the brain integrates and segregates audiovisual information, and how vision and hearing interact to form a coherent perception of the world around us.
Requirements:
Age: 18 -35 years
Normal or corrected-to-normal vision and normal hearing
No history of neurological or psychiatric conditions
What you will do:
You’ll see short visual flashes, hear brief sounds, and make quick responses on a keyboard .
During the task, we will record your brain activity using EEG (a non-invasive technique that measures the brain’s electrical signals). We will also use an eye-tracker to monitor eye movements and pupil position.
Duration:
About 3 hours (including EEG setup)
Reimbursement:
A reimbursement of €60 gross is provided for participation in the study.
